On 2 January 2017, Vishal Mishra filed a complaint against callers who have been threatening them to make changes in the film  if it shows the underworld don in a bad light. The film’s director and producer, Vinod Ramani alleged that they were receiving threat calls since 14 th December 2016 from different numbers and locations on a daily basis. The film's release was postponed from 6 January to 20 January 2017 for the same reason.

here are four different types of music tracks in the album. Title track Coffee with D sung by Anu Malik has his punch and panache! And this song gives you a feel of an underworld era! Another track is a Qawwali – Ali Ali by Shabab Sabri which evokes devotion in you! Shaan has sung 'Nation Wants to Know' which is a peppy track and takes you into the virtual world which exists today. A romantic number 'Tumhari Mohabbat' by Aakanksha Sharma & Shaan lifts your mood and makes you dreamy eyed! All songs have been composed by music band Superbia which has Shaan, Gourav Dasgupta & Roshin Balu. Sameer Anjaan is the lyricist.Dhruv Dhalla has provided background score.

Arnab Ghosh (Sunil Grover) is a table-thumping, loud-mouthed journalist modelled after a popular prime time news anchor. His antics, though they generate ratings, fail to amuse the channel boss, who relegates him to a less important slot as the host of a cooking show. Disturbed by the demotion and with a heavily pregnant wife (Anjana Sukhani), he decides to go for the big kill – an interview with the dreaded don D (Zakir Hussain). He lures the don out to grant him an interview and accompanies a fashion writer (Dipannita Sharma) and his two-man crew to Pakistan.
