Wahi din bar bar jeene ka mauka kise milta hai

The Hindi film industry is not known for experimenting too much with its themes, so Baar Baar Dekho remains well within the limits of a typical Bollywood love story. But, it also shows the urge to break free from the clutches of conventional storytelling techniques.

Jai Verma (Sidharth Malhotra) and Dia Kapoor (Katrina Kaif) are childhood sweethearts. Jai is a maths professor and Dia, an artist. While Jai hopes to get a fellowship at Cambridge University, Dia wishes to get married to her long-term beau. Jai agrees to get married reluctantly but the thought of saat pheras and the billion rituals as well as the fear of weddings ending in divorces make him change his mind. He tells Dia that he has other plans for his bright future and she may not be a part of it. She walks away heartbroken. Jai gets drunk and passes out only to wake up in Thailand on his honeymoon! He discovers that it's been two days since he got married to Dia. He has no memory of it at all. Next up, he wakes up in Cambridge, only to find his wife about to deliver their child. He realises he has been time travelling and has no control over it. He suspects that the pandit, who had explained him the true meaning of the wedding rituals, may be doing this on purpose. He continues to travel through time and age quickly, until he realises that he is 60 and lonely. He sees the death of his mother and Dia divorcing him for Nikhil. His two children are all grown up and hate him for not being there for them. As luck would have it, he gets an opportunity to travel back in time and fix things to avert future setbacks. This time around, he gives priority to his children and wife and this enables him to go back, right in the beginning. He gets married to Dia, instead of choosing his career alone and learns to value the present instead of chasing the future.

jai (Sidharth Malhotra) and Diya (Katrina Kaif) are in love, but Jai is way too much concerned about his career as a Mathematics professor. He wants to enjoy life, but is reluctant in letting go of his serious self.

On the other hand, Diya lives in the moment, and wants to experience much more than what has been offered to her.

The conflict between two diverse personalities takes the audience into an inward journey.

ANNA, a biopic on Anna Hazare is scheduled to release in 14th October with a star cast of Govind Namdeo and Rajit kapoor among others. Anna Hazare has been agitating for social causes for a long time. If it is not against illicit liquor then it is for farmer’s cause or some other social cause. But it was the agitation toward the end of UPA’s second term amidst economic turmoil and waning government credibility that Anna found his spot in the limelight.

The first half of the film depicts the early life of Kisan Baburao Hazare and creates a backdrop of the thoughts and ideals of the man. Anna Hazare has no doubt become the most famous, if not always revered, social activist of our times. Although he has been fighting for one cause or other, his moment in the limelight is tied with the likes of Kiran bedi, Arvind Kejriwal and others.

The absence of all these important characters in the movie as it culminates into the struggle for Lok Janpal bill in Delhi is curious. The movie shows multiple facets of this man, but fails to inspire the audiences or make them feel any emotion through all the proceedings. In an unashamed attempt to make him a Hero, the movie loses the essence of the real man who has fought for many over the years.
